Cheryl has a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) and is a Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT). Combining skills in various counselling methods, Cheryl is experienced working with clients who have: PTSD, anxiety, depression, substance use, traumatic loss, dissociation and suicide bereavement. She has specialized training using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Brainspotting techniques to reduce symptoms of PTSD and specific incident trauma. She uses mindfulness and cognitive strategies with clients to empower and increase resilience. Working as a clinician in Community Mental Health setting at hospital for 5 years provided a strong foundation in plan development to reduce symptoms for most mental health conditions. She is now doing in-person sessions at the Bear River & Area Community Health Clinic, as well as providing virtual clinic services via Zoom.
If you have a benefit plan through employment, fees for services are most likely eligible for direct billing to Telus E-claims. Other Extended Health and Employee Assistance Programs may reimburse fees.
