Many changes in our community have taken place. Major services are now available in nearby Digby and Annapolis, including schools, hospitals, and shopping. We at the Bear River and Area Community Health Clinic feel it a privilege to be able to offer the area services, including; massage therapists, acupuncture, foot care, pedorthics, electrolysis and virtual care to offer patients remote care.
Our village also offers a post office, fire department, general store/liquor outlet, gas station, coffee/eating establishments, farmers market/upholstery, RCLegion and hairstylists along with many other small cottage industries year around.
There is one aspect of our Bear River that is not subject to change, and that is our true God-given uniqueness regarding landscape, our Fundy Tidal river, rock formations, tree growth of many varieties, fantastic views, and a suitable climate. This aspect is responsible for the draw of newcomers and artisans to our community, which has resulted in well recognized art and craft retail outlets and studios.

Our suitable climate has provided opportunities for the establishment of grape vineyards and two wineries.
All the above adds to our tourism product, resulting in the establishment of Airbnb’s and a campground with cottages and domes.
A few years ago Bear River was being considered as a model eco-village, a very fitting concept for our unique Valley. Currently we are known as “Tidal village.”
